U.S. Becoming More Economically Free, and That’s a Good Thing
America’s overall score improved a bit in the latest Index of Economic Freedom from the Heritage Foundation. The improvement is attributable to “increased growth, and major regulatory and tax reforms ... spurring business confidence and investment.”
Once again, prosperous Hong Kong topped the rankings, while the basket cases of North Korea, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe were near the bottom.
With capitalism being trashed so frequently as of late, you could be forgiven for not knowing that “(t)he ideals of economic freedom are strongly associated with healthier societies, cleaner environments, greater per capita wealth, human development, democracy, and poverty elimination.”
