If You Can’t Win, Impeach

Article II, Section 4 of the United States Constitution states plainly that the President can be “removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
What the Constitution does not say is that if you can set up a false court-style hearing that violates every element of the constitutional protections offered by the Constitution to the criminally accused, then with the total cooperation of the news media spreading false allegations as facts, you can impeach any President as soon as the polls show you have the needed percentage of sampled voters.
In 1974, the Democrats learned they could remove a popular President from office, despite his landslide victory, by use of the threat of impeachment. This was not done through the impeachment clause, but with the threat of impeachment. The Constitution is written to make such impeachments very difficult because each branch of government is designed to function independently.
The current impeachment effort is coming from the Democrats who spent most of the Obama era making sure the Republicans would not initiate impeachment actions against that President for his many impeachable acts.
But why this obsession with President Trump? As the Democrats go down a list of violations with which they have charged the President and each one collapsing under scrutiny of the facts, the compliant media has been totally humiliated. It has been a losing battle all the way.
Why do the Democrats continue down this losing road? It is simple. They cannot defeat President Trump in an election, either the last one or in all probability the next one. They cannot defeat his great economy and opportunities he makes available to every citizen. These successes are unmatched and offer much more hope and possibilities to every citizen of this great country than the government dependence offered by the Democrats.
